If you're flying in, the closest airport is Henri Coanda International Airport in Bucharest, which is about a 2.5-hour drive from Brasov. From there, you can rent a car, take a taxi or an airport shuttle, or catch a train or bus.
(Pro tip: if you're flying in from outside of Europe, try to book a flight that arrives in the morning so you have plenty of time to make your way to Brasov without feeling rushed.)
For those already in Romania, taking the train or bus to Brasov is a great option. Both are affordable and reliable, and the views along the way are stunning. Plus, you'll get a chance to interact with locals and practice your Romanian (or Google Translate skills).
Feeling extra adventurous (or just don't want to deal with public transportation), renting a car and driving to Brasov is also an option. The roads in Romania can be a bit challenging at times (think narrow, winding mountain roads), but the freedom to explore on your own terms is worth it.

It's named for its blackened walls, which are the result of a fire that destroyed much of the church in the 17th century.
